Penguins at the zoo

Today my Kinderhaus went to visit the penguins at the zoo. I brought my own soft little penguin with me, he was a surprise present from my Granddad and Granny Bob. The penguins at the zoo looked exactly the same as mine. We watched them stretch out their wings and dive into the water. One was sleeping with his head tucked down and another one even scratched his head with his foot! After I saw that of course I had to check if I could do it too. I could.

Marching penguins

After we saw the penguins inside we waited outside for them to do their daily march. They walked right in front of me! I held up my little penguin to see. I am glad he didn't want to march off with the others.

More ice skating

It was a big day today. After the zoo we went ice skating again with my friend Emilie. I can push the polar bear around on my own now. Here we are having a little chat on the ice.

Sledding

Today we had even more Winter fun. The snow is starting to melt so we went out early to the park to see if we could find a little slope to slide my sled on.

Here I am in action

You can see me going down a little slope here. After this I found an even better slope where I could go much faster, and I liked that even more!

Hot chocolate

Afterwards Dada and I had a hot chocolate in the sunshine and snow. It was a pretty good morning.

Watch me ice skate!

Today I went ice skating for the first time. At first I didn't like it at all, but then I watched for a while and tried again. With a bit of help from my little polar bear friend and my Mama, I learned how to get around. By the end I loved it, and I told Mama I wanted to go ice skating every day.

Let's build a snowman

Today the sun was out so the snow started to melt a bit and got a bit icy. Mama and I still had fun though making these snowmen on our balcony. Actually, I call them snowgirls. Hope you like them.

SNOW!

Well, I had the best day ever in Basel today because last night it snowed! And then today it snowed and then it snowed and then it snowed some more!

Out the window

This is what we could see out the window when we woke up this morning.

Walking to kindergarten

I had the best walk to kindy. I found the biggest piles of snow to jump in, and brushed snow off the cars and the signs along the way.

Kindy park

My kindy is across the road from a park (you can kind of see it in the background here). I was so excited when I got there this morning to see so much snow everywhere. I ran across all the snow and pretended to fall and laughed and laughed.

Uncle Anthony

My Uncle Anthony is over here from Australia. It was his first time playing in snow, and we had so much fun. In the afternoon we bought this little sled for me from the local supermarket, and now I can get pulled around the streets of Basel in the snow. Not bad I reckon.
I love snow days.

Back in Bonn for a weekend

When we left Bonn we were very sad to say goodbye to our friends, so we promised to visit again soon. A couple of weekends ago Dada went on a work snowboarding trip, so Mama and I thought it would be a good chance to pop back to Bonn for a visit. We stayed with Carolyn, and I had soooooooooooo much fun. We stayed up late every night, and played games, and ate yummy food, and read stories, and did lots of jumping and tumbling on mattresses, and spoke lots of German and had lots of cuddles too.

Girls' night

We had a girls' night on the Saturday night at Emilia's house. Mama let me choose a cake from our favourite cake shop to bring and of course I chose the pinkest one they had. It was pretty pink too.

My new room!

Happy New Year everyone! I thought it was time to show you a picture of my new room, like I promised. As you can see, it is mostly my favourite colour.

Another view

All my teddies sit up at the window so that they can watch over me when I am sleeping.

New Year's Eve

On New Year's Eve, Mama and I went to a party and met some new friends. Dada went to a metal music concert that was very exciting for him, because his favourite music was playing in Basel. (I call him a "metal music head"!) You can see me here with Emilie. She is 4 and she was born in Australia too. The party was at her house and we had so much fun. We ate yummy food, and danced to the Wiggles, and dressed up, and did climbing. They even had a little kids' firework for us that shot out toys! (That's where Emilie got her teeth from!). I had such a good time there that I told Mama "I might never want to leave"!

Fireworks on the roof

After the party we came home and went up on our roof to watch the fireworks. I snuggled up in Dad's jacket because I was really sleepy, but I still loved seeing all the pretty colours.

Christmas morning

As you can imagine, I had a very good time on Christmas day. There were SO many presents for me to open, I was very lucky. After the presents I helped Mama and Zio make a yummy roast dinner. I cut the broccoli, not that I ate any afterwards. In fact I said that I loved the meat, and that I am a meatatarian.

Banana in Pyjamas

Nana and Opa Ross sent me these. Don't tell them, but Mama washed them with some new red tea-towels and now they have pink and blue stripes. I told her "don't say sorry Mama - they look better like this!"

My favourite present

I got so many wonderful presents but I said that my favourite was this hat. I like pretending to be the Wicked Witch of the West and doing witchy things when I'm wearing it.
