A birthday trip to England

This weekend I went to visit my Zio in England. It was my birthday present from him to fly over. It was very exciting because I got to meet his girlfriend Becky. She is pretty cool, especially because she took me to see horses and even gave me a little pink horse with wings.

Here I am with Peter and Becky and Becky's nephew Dan and his pony Gizmo. I liked watching Dan ride Gizmo but I wasn't too sure about having a sit on him myself.

I had lots of fun with Dan though. He had a sleepover at my Zio's house and the next day we went to the pub for a roast dinner together.

On Monday while my Zio was working, Mama and I went to visit our friends Jon and Sarah and Harriet. (Actually, Jon was in Brussels with my Dada when we first got there because they had been listening to metal music together, but he came back and we saw him at night. Pretty funny). I blowed bubbles while I waited for Harriet to finish school.

We walked through the town to pick Harriet up and then I held her hand the whole way home.

I took this photo on the plane on the way home. I liked that we were on top of the clouds.

Ooops - I forgot to say that Noni came on this trip too. We all went to see Les Miserables together on the Saturday at Hinckley theatre. It was very, very good and now Noni and I watch the Les Mis DVD together nearly every day. Sometimes I sound a bit funny singing things like "when the beating of your heart echoes the beating of the drums" as I wander around the house.

Birthdays and surprises!

You won't believe it, but I'm 4 now! And being a 4 year old sure is good. I have had the best couple of days. First, on the weekend, I went to my friend Nepheli's birthday party. I had the best time there, and even got my face painted by a clown!

Next, I had a HUGE surprise. My Noni flew all the way from Australia to be here in time for my birthday! And she didn't even tell me she was going to! She didn't tell my Mama either, and we were both stunned. When I woke up on Monday morning and saw my Noni lying in the bed in the spare room all I could do was shake my head and say "what a funny surprise!"

The day just got better and better because in the afternoon all my friends came over for a party.

We had yummy food and party games and even a ladybird birthday cake.

All my friends sang Happy Birthday to me - first in English, then in Italian, then in French and then in German! It was very Swiss!!! Then my friend Ariane blew out the candles for me, which everyone else thought was very funny. I wasn't so sure. Luckily I got to blow them out myself straight after. Mama and I made this pinata for all the kids to hit.

We filled it up with lollies and little toys and I loved gathering them all up once they fell out.

The next day was my real birthday and I got to have cake all over again at the Kinderhaus with my friends. Then I went to ballet and everyone sang to me there, and at night we went to the sports club for a swim and dinner. Today I slept and slept. Being a 4 year old is hard work!

My friend Ariane

I would like you to meet my new friend Ariane. As you can see, she is very cute. We play together lots now and we are mostly nice to each other. Maybe sometimes we forget to share. She is Spanish and Danish and she speaks English too!

Here we are at her house making pizza together. Ariane's mummy Amaya has a baby in her tummy and I can't wait for it to come out.
Their furniture just arrived at their house so we had lots of fun playing in the boxes the other day.

A trip to Thun

A couple of weekends ago we went to a town called Thun, about an hour's drive from our place. It was really pretty there, with a lake and mountains and we stayed in a hotel that has breakfast downstairs - I love doing that!

We found a very cool park to play at and Mama and I had fun climbing this pirate ship and checking out the beautiful view.

My favourite thing though was going on this steam train. It was just like Emma from Jim Knopf (a German story I love) and I was so excited to be on a real steam train with coal and everything. I kept asking if my face looked all black from the oil and coal, because that is what happens to the train driver in the story. The train climbed up and up a mountain and the view was very pretty from there.
