It was another sad day yesterday. I had to say goodbye to my Noni. She has been here ever since I got sick (well, she did go away for little trips sometimes, but she always came back) but now it is time for her to go to her own home in Perth.
I had so much fun with her, we played together so much, especially in the mornings when Mama and Dada were all sleepy and no fun. I used to love the eggs she would cook for me in her Noni cafe, and also coming home after kindergarten to see her head popping out the window, or at the top of the stairs. It is a shame she has to go home, but I think my Zizi Kate needs her in Perth, so that's OK.
Noni got a digital camera while she was here, and she had lots of practice using it on me! I thought I would show you some of her best shots now...

At Petersberg
Here I am at Petersberg, a big fancy hotel up high in Bonn. You drive up and up in the car in big circles, and when you get to the top you can see the Rhine River and lots of other things. We could see Dada's work and even our favourite summer swimming pool. They had yummy cakes and ice cream there too.
Sound of music
One day we went to Maastricht in the Netherlands with Noni. I found this big rotunda that looked fun to run around in. Since I already had my white dress on, I pretended to be Liesel from The Sound of Music, doing lots of dancing and pretending to be 16 going on 17...
Washing basket
Playing games. Everyone has to say: "Has anyone seen Yassie? I'm sure she was here just a minute ago." If they forget to say it, I remind them.

Here is something funny to show you. This is me with my doll friends Annabel and Kristin, when I was just 2 months old. Noni keeps this photo in her wallet.

And here I am with the girls again now. Do you think I've changed much?!?
Aunty Barbie visited
Last but definitely not least, we had a very special visitor the weekend before last - my Aunty Barbie! Oh, it was so good to see her. She had some work to do near London, so she popped over to see us for 24 hours. Of course we managed to squeeze a visit to the pub in during that time - for brunch. We had some great chats, at least when Mama would let me get a word in. Gee, she and Aunty Barbie can sure talk!

Kindy kid
Now I have some really big news...I am a kindergarten kid!
I go to German kindergarten every day.
It started last week. For the first week, my kindergarten class had a special outing every day to the forest. We went from 9 until 3, and had lunch out there. We saw deer and pigs, and went for big walks, and caught bugs and things in little jars (then we let them go) and made craft projects with rocks and leaves and stuff.
I wasn't too sure about it all at first, so I took Mama along with me for the first week. That was a good idea, because it meant I could get to know everyone and feel safe and secure around them. By Friday I said to Mama "I feel comfortable with the teachers now!"

Milo in bed
By the third day I was very tired, and Mama had to bring me a Milo in bed to wake me up in the morning. Now Mama or Noni make me a cup of Milo to start every kindy day.
Waving bye
Now I am an old pro at kindy. I go by myself for the whole time (9 until 12 or 12:30) and I just play and have fun. I am happy to say goodbye to Mama or Dada, especially when I have a craft project or something to keep me busy.
There are 15 kids in my class, and two teachers. Some of the kids have special needs, so we have some extra teachers too, one for speech therapy, and one for motor skills.
There is a sandpit with a little slide, and lots of bikes to ride outside. There's a tumbling room, and lots of play rooms, and a sleeping room, and little toilets and sinks. I have a special hook with my name on it to hang my things, and a special basket to put my outside shoes in. There is a special drawer with my name on it to put my artwork in, and a special towel with my name on it to dry my hands.
They have breakfast at kindergarten too. A little buffet is set out every morning and it's Yassie size. I help myself and then sit at the table. Afterwards I stack my dirty dishes on the trolley.
Being a kindy kid is pretty cool I reckon.

Hospital check-up for August
Well, I have some really great news. Today I went for my latest hospital check-up. I had an ultrasound and then the normal check where they take blood and I do a wee. Everything was fine. My kidneys looked good on the ultrasound, and everyone seemed happy with how I am going.
And do you know what else? I didn't cry once!
When they took my blood pressure I chose which cuff I wanted, and then I pushed the start button on the machine. Next I got on the scales without being asked and stood there until the nurse finished weighing me. The doctor came next and I actually talked to him! I asked him what platelets were, because I still think platelets is a pretty funny word. He said lots of big words like coagulate and something else I wasn't sure of, but Mama sort of made it sound a bit easier for me.
I made a deal with the doctor: I would let him take my blood if he let me have a pink plastic tube (he has lots of tubes and things all different colours, for taking blood and stuff I guess). He also promised that he wouldn't have to take my blood for a while after this time. I think he knows how much I hate it.
I sat in Mama's lap while he took it. I told him which hand to take it from and he said if there was a vein there, he would. First he sprayed some banana-smelling spray on my hand and then he rubbed it and then he had a vein ready to use. I just said 'Ow' when he put the needle in and then I watched him catch all the blood. After that I did a wee in a cup and it was all finished.
The best part is...I don't have to go back for 3 whole months! Yippeeeeee!
